Description:The Lost City is a series of rock formations formed by sheets of ironstone sandwiched between layers of sandstone that have been weathered and eroded over millions of years to resemble conical Asian pagodas, as if the rocks are the decayed remains of some ancient civilisation that has been swallowed up by the bush. In the valley below is an old coal mine and two old dams, which further adds to the Lost City's aesthetic The Lost City is located in the Newnes State Forest on the Newnes Plateau, a few kilometres north of Lithgow. Access is by 4WD tracks or walking trails.
