Description:
Mimosa Rocks National Park is located 20 kilometres south of Bermagui, 4 kilometres north of Tathra, 22 kilometres north-east of Bega and 413 kilometres south of Sydney. Mimosa Rocks National Park consists of 5,335 hectares. Natural volcanic rock sculptures appear everywhere among the rugged coastal headlands, cliffs and rock stacks. A short and easy walking track descends steeply to the secluded beach at Moon Bay. The sheltered beach is ideal for swimming, fishing and picnics. There are basic camping facilities at Moon Bay but no running water. An exploration of the area around the beach will reveal some historical artefacts - rusted stubs of mooring rings and grooves cut into the cliffs – the remains of the log slide and mooring site where timber and farm products were loaded onto barges for transfer to ships. Mimosa Rocks is accessed via the Tathra-Bermagui Road (sealed road) with the access roads turning off this to the coastal camping and picnic areas. Road conditions should be checked at local National Parks offices or at the local visitor information centres, especially after wet weather. Nearest accommodation is available in Tathra, Bega or Bermagui.
