Description:Coonabarabran is a town in Warrumbungle Shire in north-western New South Wales. At the 2001 census, the town had a population of 2,736. The township is located on the Newell Highway and the Oxley Highway, approximately halfway between Melbourne and Brisbane and can be reached in about six hours by car from Sydney. Coonabarabran is the gateway to the Warrumbungle National Park and the Pilliga Forest.
