Description:Macquarie Woods is a recreation area offering picnicking and camping areas, walking tracks and a lookout with extensive views of the Macquarie Valley. The 600 hectare site is part of the Vittoria State Forest. It displays exotic conifer planted forests and has an area of native woodland which once dominated the landscape. The conifers are quite thick and extensive, mostly planted in rows. Macquarie Woods is located half way between Bathurst and Orange on the Mitchell Highway. Excellent access for very large production vehicles only 50 metres away from the forest itself. Orange and Bathurst have ample accommodation for large crews plus plenty of back up support including caterers.
