Description:Lake Cathie is 15km south of Port Macquarie on NSW’s mid-north coast. Pronounced ‘cat-eye’, it is a marsh-like lake system connected to the ocean by an estuary. Surrounding bushland begins at the water’s edge, ranging from brittle scratchy underbrush to swampy mangroves and submerged grasses.
