Description:
The Old Wentworth Gaol was built between 1879 and 1881, and operated until 1927. It is now used as a museum. The gaol is located in Wentworth which is in the south-western region of New South Wales on the border of Victoria. The single storey, brick gaol features hand made clay brick, sandstone, ironwork, a slate roof shipped from Wales, leadflashing, lead ridge capping and the use of riveted corrugated iron. It is a classic example of late Victorian architecture.
