Description:This half-hectare island in Iron Cove near Birkenhead Point has summer houses (dating back to the 1920s) which shelter up to 25 people and contain long picnic tables. Another feature is the colonial style hall built in 1889. This tranquil bay has the gardens of the Rozelle hospital on one side and is surrounded by a foreshore park, where palm trees dot the flat grassy area near the shore. Facilities include drinking water and toilets. Rodd Island has three quaint witches hat trellis pavilions with long tables and benches that seat 26 at each table with another pavilion being able to seat eight.
