Description:
Mootwingee National Park is dominated by the rugged Bynguano Range - a rocky mulga-clad sandstone range which is dissected by gorges and rock pools which provide habitat for an abundance of wildlife. The park has a strong historic, Aboriginal significance with galleries of paintings and engravings and the Mootwingee Historic Site. Historic significance is further enhanced by the relics of Old Mootwingee Homestead ruins, the Rockholes Hotel and evidence of the Bourke and Wills expedition. Access to the park is from Broken Hill, Tibooburra and White Cliffs (dry weather only). The park is 131 kilometres north-east of Broken Hill and most of the roads to and within (besides the first 16 kilometres) are unsealed, gravel construction and road conditions should be checked with local authorities before proceeding.
