Description:Hyde Park was originally opened in 1810 as Sydney's first racecourse and later Sydney's first cricket ground. During the 1920’s the park was redesigned after being totally unearthed for the city underground rail network. The redesigned park features a central avenue of fig trees and gardens on either side. The Archibald Fountain can be found at the north end of the Park. The large Art Deco Anzac War Memorial and adjacent Pool of Reflection are situated at the south end of the Park. The park is split in two sections and divided by Park Street.
