Its grand facade, ornate detailing and elegant interiors provide a historical and timeless backdrop for period dramas and historical films. The Auditorium features high ceilings and a stage perfect for ballroom scenes, concerts and formal events. The Council Chambers features wood panelling and historic decor has served as a setting for courtroom scenes and official meetings. Maitland Town Hall was used in the film "Tomorrow, When the War Began" (2010) for a scene set in a meeting hall.
