Description:Marrickville Town Hall is a heritage-listed former town hall for the now abolished Marrickville Council. Opened in 1922, it is now used as a large community venue, hosting community events and programs and offering facilities for hire. The main hall has a capacity of 550 (in meeting configuration) while the mezzanine level seats 100. The main hall has sprung wooden floors, a nine-meter-high ceiling with ornate fixtures, large windows for natural lighting, a Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ and a 7mx6m stage with dressing rooms, sound system and stage lighting. Other facilities include small meeting rooms/offices and a large commercial kitchen. Marrickville Town Hall was used as the Raffles Hotel ballroom in Bruce Beresford’s “Paradise Road”.
