Interiors and exteriors of the NSW Schoolhouse Museum of Public Education. The museum buildings are the first school buildings of North Ryde Public School, dating back to 1877. School furniture and equipment dating from the 1880s through to the 1960s is available for hire by schools and commercial companies. Items include teachers’ desks, student desks, blackboards, old maps, inkwells, slates and canes. The NSW Schoolhouse Museum is one of the oldest surviving public school buildings in Sydney. It was built in 1877 with additions in 1883 and 1910. The 1877 and 1910 rooms have been fully restored to their original condition and are furnished with authentic desks and school furniture. In addition, a 1940s timber classroom has been furnished with original 1950s-1960s furniture.
