Ardlethan is a small country town located just off the intersection of the Newell and Burley Griffin Highways, around 490km west of Sydney.
The town has a population of approximately 400 people, and is at the intersection of three council areas - Bland Shire Council, Coolamon Shire Council, and Narrandera Shire Council.
It is on the border of the Riverina and Central West regions.
Surrounding agricultural areas are focused on wheat, canola, barley, oats, lamb and wool.
Ardlethan was established in the 19th century after gold was discovered but gold mining was shortlived. In 1961, tin mining started in the town, and continued until 1986. The tin mine was reopened in late 2001 but closed in mid 2004.
