Dundullimal Homestead
Australia / Dubbo, New South Wales
Location ID: #15762
Dundullimal Homestead is off Obley Road, past the entrance to Western Plains Zoo out of Dubbo. The property consists of the living quarters, stables, blacksmith workshop, cartroom, and a sunken cool room. There is also a shearing shed that runs as a cafe.
The house itself has a T-shape design, unusual for the period, based on ‘the timber hut’ recorded in an 1836 Census.
This timber slab homestead was built in the early 1840s as the head station of a 6,500-hectare squatting run. It reflects architectural influences from Italy, England and India.
