Perhaps the biggest attraction in the Harrington area is the Crowdy Bay National Park, a park of 5639 hectares running along the coast which combines beaches, beautiful sand dunes, coastal forest, heathlands and swamp areas. The lagoons in the park are noted habitats for water birds and the beaches are quiet and peaceful.

Access to the Park is via Moorland on the Pacific Highway north of Coopernook.

Highlights:
The sculpted rock formations of Diamond Head jut more than 100 m above Crowdy Bay. Australian author Kylie Tennant lived and wrote beneath the head, and her hut has been restored and maintained.

Activities: At low tide you can explore the rocks and pools below the cliffs. There's good fishing, birdwatching and fascinating headland walks with abundant wildlife. Car-based and caravan camping is available at Diamond Head, Indian Head and Kylies Beach. Camping fees apply. Bring your own drinking water, firewood is sold on site.

Access: 25 km north-east of Taree off the Pacific Highway at Moorland; 3 km south of Laurieton via the coast road from Port Macquarie or 13 km east of Kew via Laurieton and the coast road.
