The National Trust complex features its pumphouse with striking chimney and ornate brickwork and is one of the largest and most intact 19th Century industrial complexes in the Hunter Valley.
Built between 1882 and 1887 to cope with the rapidly increasing population of the Newcastle area and the need for a safer, reliable water supply.
The site features, the main pumping house with striking chimney and ornate brickwork, a large storage area. sandstone reservoir wall, settling tanks and filter beds used to purify water.
