Tuross Head
Australia / Tuross Heads, New South Wales
Location ID: #15220
Tuross Heads is a small coastal town situated midway between Batemans Bay and Narooma. Tuross is also surrounded by the waters of twin lakes Tuross and Coila, as well as the Pacific Ocean. The shoreline features large sections of volcanic rock. Close to the local Memorial Wall is the burial site of a beached whale. In the middle of Tuross Lake is the privately-owned Horse Island, which is easily visible from the Tuross Boat Shed and Cafe, a popular local venue. During low tide, sections of Tuross Lake become dry. Tuross Head is also just north of Eurobodalla National Park. Close to the main public swimming beach is One Tree Point Lookout, where visitors and residents can spot local dolphins, migrating whales and the occasional shark.
