Lightning Ridge is the only outback town in Australia where the black opal is found and one of Australia’s best known remote mining towns. It is 72km north of Walgett and 768km north-west of Sydney. It has a number of quirky corrugated iron and stone structures. In this remote desert setting, a post-apocalyptic look can be easily achieved.
