Indian Pacific
Australia / Sydney, New South Wales
Location ID: #15016
As the name implies, the Indian Pacific links two oceans on one of the world’s longest and greatest train journeys. The train line starts at Sydney, travels west through the Blue Mtns, through Broken Hill and down to Adelaide. The line then continues west across the treeless plains of The Nullarbor, where the train travels the world’s longest straight stretch of railway track (478 kilometres) before ending up in Perth.
The journey from Sydney to Perth covers 4352kms and in either direction it takes 3 nights to travel the whole distance.
From website:
"Your epic journey will take you through the picturesque and fertile Avon Valley, the dusty goldfields around Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, across the vast, empty and ancient desert of the Nullarbor Plains, and the magnificent and once-impenetrable Blue Mountains outside Sydney.
There is time to explore the heritage and culture of Broken Hill, the ‘silver city’, which was built on mining riches, and the elegant South Australian capital, Adelaide, which offers an abundance of food, wine and history."
