Lake George is at times an almost totally dried-up lake bed, situated just north-east of Canberra. Much of the lakebed can be dry and parched, resembling barren plains, desert and remote outback. Low mountains form a lip around the lake. There are localized water patches from recent rains but the lake is still relatively dry.
