With its 1890s holding cells, offices, charge room and courts, the museum draws you into a world of crime with a vast archive of crime scene photography and mug shots revealing more than a century of underworld Sydney. Step into the dark side of Sydney’s past and explore the Water Police station and courts that once made up one of the city’s busiest legal hubs.
THE DETAILS
ACCESS – Filming & photography on site is upon application.
COLLECTION – collection items including furniture have significant value and are not props. Some furniture items are to remain in situ. Care must be taken when moving filming equipment. Items cannot be fix or attach to any elements on site including fences or the building. Museum objects, furniture and fixtures cannot be moved during your booking. Any collection movements are to be approved and undertaken by property staff in advance.
EQUIPMENT – all tripods, stands or metal base plates need to have protective elements between the floor and equipment (e.g. mats, cut tennis balls, foam or bubble wrap).
PERMITS – exterior shots of the property can be made available whilst within our property boundary; outside of our site permits may be required via City of Sydney Council in the surrounding Philip and Arthur Street areas.
STAFF KITCHEN - Food and beverages consumption is limited to the kitchen summons courtroom.
PARKING / LOADING DOCK - The Justice & Police Museum loading dock is located in Albert Street, next to the main entrance. There are 2 parking spaces available for crew in the loading dock. The nearest parking stations to the museum are: Sir Stamford Hotel Parking (Entry from Albert Street, open until Midnight) & Intercontinental Hotel Parking (Entry from Phillip Street, open until Midnight)
