Lake Jindabyne

Jindabyne is located on the edge of the Snowy Mountains - the town itself was created after the original settlement was drowned by the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electricity Authority in the late 1960s. Remains of the old town lie submerged under the lake and can be viewed in years of severe drought.
Jindabyne owes its continuing existence to its proximity to the major ski resorts in the Snowy Mountains and the facilities it offers to trout fishermen.
A number of streams feed the lake including the Snowy River, Mowamba River, Eucumbene River, Rushes Creek, Widows Creek, Woollondibby Creek, and Thredbo River.
