Cobar is located in central NSW on the Barrier Highway, South of Bourke and East of Broken Hill.

The rodeo grounds are on the northern edge of Cobar, inside the Cobar Racecourse. The grounds are situated within Dalton Park, which is an equestran centre.

The Cobar Rodeo Grounds are used for rounds of the National Rodeo Championships and are therefore of industry standard. They comprise of the rodeo grounds, holding yards, stock yards and grounds facilities for spectator viewing.
