Riversdale Homestead

Australia / Goulburn, New South Wales
Location ID: #10196661

An estate with a rich history, Riversdale was built in the 1830s as a coaching inn on the main road of Goulburn Plains. Riversdale is a fine example of a Colonial Georgian home surrounded by splendid gardens and picnic grounds. Standing within its original paddocks and outbuildings, Riversdale’s barn and stables is thought to be the oldest surviving building in Goulburn.
Riversdale is renowned for its collection of fine Australian Colonial furniture and arts and craft. Edward Twynam, the New South Wales Surveyor-General bought Riversdale in 1875 and it remained the family home until 1967. Sketches and furniture crafted by Emily Twynam still decorate the home.
Riversdale’s garden boasts spring blossoms in the original orchard, heritage roses scattered throughout and glorious iris.
