Barraba is a small country town on the Manilla River and one of the stops on the Fossickers Way touring route. Located 476 km north of Sydney and 90 km north of Tamworth, Barraba has a long history as a mining town and many of its original colonial and Art Deco buildings have been preserved. The town is surrounded by national parks, including Mount Kaputar, Horton Falls and Split Rock Dam. Barraba has also become a well-known bird-watching spot with the establishment of bird routes where visitors can view over 200 native species, including the endangered Regent Honeyeater.
