Broken Hill - Synagogue of the Outback Museum
Australia / Broken Hill, New South Wales
Location ID: #10105560
Consecrated in 1911, closed in 1962 and heritage-listed in 1990, this rural synagogue has been faithfully restored to its original condition by the local historical society. It is now used as a museum, detailing the history of Broken Hill's Jewish community. It is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm. The original ark, bima and pews are still in place and a Magen David is painted on the ceiling.
