Richmond was one of 5 towns formed as a refuge from floods in 1810. Located 19 metres above sea level, 62 km from Sydney and 5 km west of Windsor, Richmond is the second largest of the original Macquarie Towns. While it has been greatly changed by a population boom and the inevitable modern developments it still has a substantial number of interesting historic buildings. Richmond is also the site of the RAAF air base and the University of Western Sydney Hawkesbury Campus.
