Location Authorities - Crown Lands

Crown land comprises approximately half of all land in New South Wales. Some of this land is allocated to public uses such as national parks, state forests, schools, hospitals, sporting, camping and recreation areas, as well as lands which are managed and protected for their environmental importance.

***Filming on Crown land. 1B short-term licences may be issued to individuals, registered companies, community organisations and other entities and are commonly granted to authorise events or filming on Crown land. NSW Department of Planning and Environment welcomes enquiries from film makers in accordance with the 'Making NSW Film Friendly' State Government Policy. Where possible, the Department will make locations available for film makers, taking into account public amenity, safety, security and operational requirements.
Please plan ahead and contact the Department with a minimum two weeks notice in advance of your filming schedule. For more significant filming productions, please contact the Department as soon as possible to facilitate access and make arrangements. Fees and an associated rent may be payable. When contacting the Department please provide:
a map with the proposed filming areas marked; information on the proposed dates and how long you intend to film; and information regarding your public liability insurance.
