The Upper Lachlan Shire is a predominantly rural shire incorporating the main township of Crookwell together with several historic villages most of which originated in goldrush times. With high annual rainfall the area has rich soils providing lush green surrounds all year.Crookwell is 41km west of Goulburn providing ready access via the freeway from Sydney and Canberra. The town has many modern amenities including a recently constructed Motel and is served by a variety of clubs, shops and Medical Services. An airstrip (owned by the Council) is available for charter plane landings.Farmstay accommodation facilities are located throughout the Shire and Council has a Visitors Information Centre located in the main street of Crookwell.
