Glen Innes Severn Shire is the gateway to spectacular wilderness areas and National Parks. Fossicking plays a large part in the district's tourism as well as the mining district of Emmaville, which includes an arsenic mine, tin mine and many other mining areas. Other activities include fishing in the district's rivers and streams for trout and cod.Glen Innes is the home of the Australian Standing Stones, which is an official memorial to the nation's Celtic pioneers. The Australian Standing Stones were inspired by the Ring of Brodgar in Scotland's Orkney Isles.They are the only stone circle in the Southern Hemisphere, and are the site of the spectacular Australian Celtic Festival every autumn.
