Much of the Camden Local Government Area comprises unique landscapes, vistas and view corridors that reflect its rural character and atmosphere. Historically the earliest developments of the Australian wool, wheat and wine industries are associated with the area following the original land grant from Lord Camden to John Macarthur in 1805. Camden is the last remaining significant country town on the Cumberland Plain. The town is the cultural heart of a region that enjoys a unique place in Australia's history. The rural atmosphere and heritage of Camden town is evidenced by the presence of an equestrian park, working dairy, vineyard and livestock saleyards making Camden a true "working country town". Mount Annan Botanic Garden, in Mount Annan Camden Airport, Macquarie Grove Road, Camden. For companies making an application to film in the area, Council requires at least TWO WEEKS notice so an accurate assessment of impact can be made. A detailed check list is available on request to assist this process and has to be completed before consent can be issued. In some cases a DA may be required depending on the impact on traffic, etc. A nominal fee usually applies and this revenue is used to promote tourism in the area.
