Bogan Shire and the township on Nyngan are located in the Central West of New South Wales, 7 hours from Sydney. Bordering the eastern edge of the Australian Outback, Nyngan is a picturesque country town situated on the peaceful and majestic Bogan River.Nyngan is considered to be an oasis in the outback with many visitors travelling great distances to relax and enjoy the comfortable country lifestyle that the Bogan Shire provides.The Bogan Shire has a strong agricultural and mining background and there are many locations that are easily accessible including mine sites and rural properties, as well as the Bogan River.Nyngan also hosts many historic buildings and sites including the Cobb & Co. Coach Station, as part of the Bathurst to Bourke Cobb & Co. Trail, the Heritage Railway turned museum and the historic Nyngan Palais Theatre - a 400 seat cinema/theatre reminiscent of an older era. Movies are still played fortnightly on an old 35mm projector in this fabulous community venue.Bogan Shire Council is very supportive of groups utilising the area for filming. Only recently, two environmental conservation movies were filmed in Nyngan. The Community Services Officer liaises closely with the community and any organisation that wishes to utilise any Bogan Shire facility, therefore ensuring that the best possible venues, locations, sites, extras, etc, are achieved.We invite you to come and explore the vast beauty and big skies of the Bogan Shire and witness for yourself what a magnificent part of the country the Bogan Shire is.
